When you walk by Raji House, it looks like any other well-kept home in an attractive Burlingame neighborhood. What you don’t see are the important weekend respite services for families who have children with developmental disabilities. Not only is Raji House is the only out-of home respite program in San Mateo County but many families from the East Bay, South Bay and San Francisco also utilizes the services. The home provides a needed break for family members and caregivers from the challenges of raising a child with developmental disabilities. A staff ratio of 1:3 children is maintained in the program. The trained and dedicated staff creates a caring and stimulating environment for the children.
Raji House is a licensed by the California Community Care Licensing to provide weekend respite during the day (9AM-6 PM) to a maximum of 15 children, ages 6-17. The home also offers overnight weekend respite for up to 6 children. Respite schedules are divided into children, pre-teen and teen groups. The home is accessible and can accommodate up to four children with wheelchairs. A wheelchair accessible van is also available for weekend outings and trips.

Raji House is owned and operated by Parca, and is made possible through the generous donations of Ruth and Umang Gupta, in memory of their son Raji, who the house is named for. Primary funding for services is from the Golden Gate Regional Center and from donations to Parca. Private pay is available for qualified families.
