The Parca Auxiliary was founded in 1985 as an organization dedicated to philanthropic endeavors that directly support Parca Organization.  Each year the Auxiliary raises funds for Parca’s much need programs and services through their Annual Luncheon and Fashion Show and through other fundraisers held in the community.  The Parca Auxiliary’s Annual Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show is the primary fundraiser for Parca Organization, and has raised over $1 million dollars over the last 10 years.  Today, the Parca Auxiliary consists of 59 actives, 101 sustainers and 14 founding members.

The Auxiliary also organizes and hosts numerous parties and activities for Parca clients throughout the year, enabling both the Auxiliary members and the Parca clients to meet, interact, and have fun!

Parca Auxiliary History
In 1985, Hillsborough resident Cliff Lundberg sought education and socialization services for his youngest daughter who is developmentally disabled.  Parca Organization provided those services.  Founded in 1952, Parca Organization provided needed programs and services dedicated to enriching the lives of developmentally disabled clients and their families.  When Cliff Lundberg joined Parca’s Board of Trustees, he saw the need to raise both awareness of the organization in the community and more money to supplement government funding.  Parca Organization’s only fundraising activities at that time consisted of a thrift shop and membership dues.  Mr. Lundberg saw the opportunity for a larger and more organized fundraiser.  He turned to a small group of creative and generous women who knew how to “throw parties.”  They were Jane Jackson, Barbara Brown, Sharon Dolin and Maureen Gilmartin.  The first fundraiser raised $25,000, and eventually evolved into an annual luncheon and fashion show.

The Auxiliary was formed in 1988 to provide annual financial support for Parca.  Lisa Miller, who was on Parca Organization’s Board of Directors, was named the first Auxiliary President.  Lisa Miller created the structure and framework for the Auxiliary with the help of Pam Ehikian, Debbie Bocci, Mary Pulley and Vicky Jones.

Today, these leaders are still close friends and continue to support the Auxiliary. Many have daughters and nieces who have become active in the Auxiliary, like Paige Lundberg Farsad, Jennifer Brown Moriarty, Tera Gilmartin, Shawna Pulley Droese, Heather Gilmartin Krumins, Christina Horwitz Tan and Jennifer Dolin Rinehart.

The Courtney Jones
Memorial Endowment
Established by the Parca Auxiliary in 2005, the Courtney Jones Memorial Endowment is a long-term financial safety net for the operations of the Parca Organization. The endowment is named after a young Parca client who passed away. Courtney's mother, Vicki Jones, was instrumental in forming the Parca Auxiliary. Each year, a portion of the funds raised at the Parca Auxiliary luncheon are placed in the Endowment as a legacy of continued support for Parca.

Parca Auxiliary Angel Award
The Angel Award is given to an individual(s) or organization in recognition of their outstanding and significant contributions to the Parca Auxiliary.  In 2007, the Auxiliary awarded the law firm of Cotchett, Pitre, and McCarthy with the first Angel Award.  The Cotchett, Pitre, and McCarthy Firm generously donated a check for $115,000 to Parca Organization, the proceeds of settlement awards from class action cases where it served as lead council.  Mark Molumphy and Neil Swartzberg accepted the award on behalf of Cotchett, Pitre, and McCarthy. We are grateful for their generosity and contribution to Parca.
